An exhibit of approximately 25 paintings and drawings by David Syre opens on Friday, Sept. 14, with a 5:30 p.m. reception. Guest-curated by Argentine curator Ana Palacio, the show includes a selection of works that reflect Syre’s interest in the Tierra del Fuego province and its indigenous Ona people. In addition, a video and installation called Ona Spirit is also on view. Titled Soul Maps: The Journey Evolves, the exhibition is part of a 2018 series inspired by Syre’s travels, which began with a showing in Nice in May and concludes with an exhibit in Buenos Aires in November. Syre is a self-taught artist who uses his medium to explore spiritual evolution and connection to place through powerful abstract imagery.
